You must have them if you use tables in XSL style sheets with XML, always a good idea to close every tag with an end tag, <BR> and <IMG> included.

Tables do work without the </table> or </td>,</tr> but.... try looking at the same page in Netscape and the tables will probably not load. Just get used to doing it and you will be better off in the long term.
