The answer talks about communication between HTML and Javascript, not, as the question asks, about communicating (both ways) between Java and Javascript. Conceivably, some of the information would be useful to answer the question that was asked, but there is a lot more to the question than the answer tries to address. It would be a real service, for example, to provide a sample that communicates between a Java application (not an applet) and Javascript.
