I've copied the link and changed the address to allow users to download a Word doc from our site but it doesn't work, I keep getting an error message saying the site can't be opened. Any ideas?

yes. but can you construct an FTP HREF using a relative URL (relative to where the current .htm document is being loaded from the server)?
