How do you have this reload occur WITHOUT the browser attempting to move the window to the front?

If I leave the web page open, and then for example have my Outlook or Word/Excel maximized or in the foreground, when the javascript code reloads the page I hear a "click" sound and the browser attempts to come to the foreground.... how do I prevent that?
