: : Is it possible to check if a file exists in javascript.

: : I'm writing a password entry script and it takes you to a page, but if the page doesn't exist it does the 404 file not found.

: : Is it possible to check if the file exists before the redirection occurs, so I can write my own 404 page.

: Take a look at the "Intelligent Password #2" article at http://www.irt.org/articles/js075/index.htm

Your script does exactly the same thing and reports a 404 not found when you enter an incorrect password.

I've already wrote my password script and it works.
